Construction of a new maintenance hangar for Air Transat ($22 M)

Description: The relocation, from Mirabel to Dorval, of the flight operations for Air Transat required the construction of the new hangar for its airplane maintenance.

The construction of this hangar was given to a general contractor, in the form of a turnkey operation. For this mandate, BPR acted as the administrative and technical representative for the client, as part of an integrated team for the project (ADM, Air Transat, BPR, Aedifica).

Our first responsibility was to produce all of the performance specifications, integrating the technical and architectural requirements of both ADM and Air Transat. We then participated in the analysis of the proposals, the technical recommendations for the granting of the contract and the monitoring of the design and construction.

The technical monitoring for this mandate was unusual because it involved very strict airplane flight and maintenance standards. Airplane traffic, verification of the interferences with the navigational aid systems and the access security measures are a few examples, among others, of the uniqueness of the mandate. As a representative of the client, BPR also intervened in the monitoring of the tight schedule and cost control as well as the approval of changes.
